CBG and its effects

CBG is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Since it is only found in very small amounts in native varieties, and only in young plants, scientists have developed new varieties of cannabis that are rich in CBG. Cannabigerol reacts with the endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for maintaining homeostasis, i.e. the harmony and balance of our body (1).

A study (2) suggests that this article reduces stress and anxiety in patients. It can improve learning and concentration skills. Due to its antioxidant effects, CBG is very effective in reducing nerve cell damage (3). Another 2018 study shows that CBG can reduce inflammation in the brain due to its reaction with PPAR receptors (nuclear receptors). Additionally, CBG can reduce intraocular pressure.

CBG has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects and thus has great potential to improve the health of our digestive tract. In the past, CBG in the form of raw hemp leaves has been used against parasites. CBG also improves symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (5) and other, now widespread, inflammatory bowel diseases.

A healthy stomach and intestines will definitely affect our mood too. CBG can lead to better thinking and improved mood. CBG also interacts with serotonin and amandamine (neurotransmitter) receptors (6), which are responsible for our mood and social behavior, motivation, appetite, sleep, and pain perception. Low levels of serotonin are in turn associated with depression, and anxiety. Amandamide is often called the happiness molecule and it is one of the most important endocannabinoids produced in the body (7).

Relaxation and regeneration

By reducing anxiety, CBG aids in better relaxation. It supports some of the most important neurotransmitters in the brain, the proper levels of which help both the muscles and the brain relax. CBG oil can help in faster recovery after a tough workout. By reacting with the GABA receptors in the brain, it will help in relaxation and also soothe mild aches and pains (8).

CBG can reduce inflammation, redness and improve skin barrier function. It also prevents the spread of harmful bacteria on the skin (9). In a study published in 2015, researchers found that CBG may also be useful in treating dry skin and contributes to smoother, softer skin (10).

It reduces chronic stress and inflammation, helps with anxiety and depression, modifies appetite, and helps with digestive tract problems, inflammatory bowel disease.
